What’s your New Year’s resulotion?
Everyone wishes for a better world. Some will even go as far as to say they wish for world peace, and everyone wants to be happier, richer, healthier, or anything else they could wish for in the coming year.
I want those at least as much as you do, and wish them for you too. But let me offer a different perspective which can be a magical key to all of those – Be Valuable!
When you think about it, there is so much to it. In being valuable, you not only create value for others but also create a better world, become meaningful, and enjoy the derivatives of the value you create.
If you want to be successful in business, think about the value that you create for your customers. If you create value for them, they will come back, and you will be rewarded.
If you want an awesome relationship – be valuable to your significant other. When you are – one of the most significant cornerstones is having your relationship rock solid. When you’re valuable, others will seek you out, want to be closer to you, and will look for your perspective on a wide range of topics.
My personal fulfillement
My personal life purpose is to create value through the startups that I build, the CEOs I coach and mentor, my teaching, and my book Fall in Love with the Problem, not the Solution, intended to help people on their journey, which I am proud to say that Steve Wozniak co-founder of Apple, and many others, call “The bible for entrepreneurs.”
The startups I built, like Waze and Moovit which help you save time and create certainty in your life, or Pontera which helps you to retire richer, and Oversee which helps corporations save money on travel. WeSki is a service you should try on your next ski vacation, SeeTree helps farmers increase their yields, Kahun improves medical diagnostics, Dynamo helps bring your customers back, and Pumba deals with one of the most frustrating events of the day – finding parking. Republix helps small businesses grow their business, and Atlantrees grows avocados at high-yield high-tech plantations.
My CEOs: Yoav, Aviel, Daniel, Orr, Nimrod, Roy, Roi, Eitan, Michal, Yotam, Alon, Israel, Thomas, Ido, Nir, Ziv – thank you for allowing me to be valuable to you.
The students I have met and taught at IE University in Madrid, Columbia University, NYU, Babson College, Tel Aviv University, and more to come, allow me to share my knowledge and be valuable to them.
My audiences at various events, where I share my know-how: I hope I am of value to them in becoming better versions of themselves by seeing things more clearly.
Make each day the first day of the rest of your life
When you have a life purpose or figure out what your destiny is, your life becomes simpler, everything is clearer, and you’re happier, healthier, and richer. You know what you must do. The purpose becomes the north star that guides you.
The guidance for your professional life or whatever you do with your life is simple. Find something that you are good at, that you love and that creates value for others, that they are willing to pay for. If you haven’t found it yet, keep on looking.
My life philosophy is looking at every day as “the first day of the rest of your life”. If you find your purpose and it is about value creation, trust me, you are one of those people whose wishes WILL most likely come true.
